We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Accountant to join our team. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for accurately processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, and providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll-related questions or concerns. This role requires a high level of confidentiality, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of payroll practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process and review bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll for employees
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and other pay-related factors
  • Verify employee working hours, vacation leaves, sick leaves, and other absences
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely onboarding and termination processes
  • Prepare and distribute paystubs and paychecks
  • Process and maintain accurate records of payroll deductions, such as taxes, benefits, and garnishments
  • Collect and review timesheets, wage garnishments, and other payroll-related documents
  • Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies or issues
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure compliance
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payments
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve any concerns efficiently and professionally
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a Payroll Accountant or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices, regulations, and payroll software (ADP, Paychex, etc.)
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and compliance requirements
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills to accurately process complex payroll calculations
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity when dealing with sensitive employee information
  • Proficient in using MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)

Recommended Skill Set

  • Prior experience with payroll processing software
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Ability to adapt to changing payroll regulations and implement necessary updates
  • Knowledge of timekeeping systems and attendance tracking
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Detail-oriented and thorough in reviewing payroll data for accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience working with HR and cross-functional teams
