Bursar Job Description – Mopid

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Bursar in our organization.

The primary responsibility of the Bursar is to oversee all financial transactions and manage the financial resources of the organization. This includes managing the budget, processing payments, maintaining financial records, and providing financial reports to senior management. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and numerical skills, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization’s budget and ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and other financial transactions
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and databases
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Provide financial advice and support to senior management
  • Monitor and manage the organization’s financial resources, including cash flow, investments, and debt
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
  • Perform financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare tax returns
  • Manage payroll and employee benefits
  • Collaborate with auditors and other professionals to ensure financial integrity
  • Stay up to date with financial regulations and best practices
  • Train and supervise junior finance staff

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in finance or accounting
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and best practices
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Recommended Skill Set

  • Certification in accounting or finance (e.g., CPA, CMA)
  • Experience in a leadership or management role
  • Knowledge of nonprofit finance principles
  • Experience in budgeting and financial planning
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance
  • Experience with financial analysis and forecasting
  • Experience with payroll and employee benefits management systems
  • Experience with financial software, such as QuickBooks or SAP
  • Strong understanding of financial risk management
  • Ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
